In 1996, I founded the Stanford Flute Ensemble at the request of the eminent flutist Frances Blaisdell. It remains a popular and coveted ensemble at Stanford. In August 2009, the Stanford Flute Ensemble was featured in several performances at the National Flute Association convention in New York City, including in a live, national news broadcast with Sir James Galway, as well as featured performances at the NFA conventions in Anaheim (2010) and Las Vegas (2012).
The Stanford Flute Ensemble is small ensemble of flutists from across the Stanford community. Open to undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni, the group performs a wide variety of classical and contemporary pieces, arranged for all combination of C flute, piccolo, alto and bass flute. The SFE performs end-of-quarter concerts on campus three times each academic year.
